Wang Yurong is a member of the China Writers Association and a recipient of the honor of National Outstanding Communist Youth League Cadre, Secretary of the CPC Branch and Secretary of the CYLC Branch of Chinese Online Writers, a young top-notch talent of "Thousand Talents Plan" in Zhejiang Province, an outstanding CPC member in Hangzhou, the deputy secretary of the Hangzhou Online Literature Committee. Her representative works include Lantern Festival Joy, Huafei Gongmu, But It's Just a Repeat and so on, some of which have been included in the European Cultural Exchange Catalogue of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the International Dissemination Project of the Chinese Writers Association. The works have also been collected by numerous institutions, such as the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature, the National Library of Singapore, the Italian Writers' Federation, the Confucius Institute at the University of Rome, the British Library, and the Channing House Library. In 2025, recommended by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, she was selected as a Chinese youth representative to attend the ASEF Young Leaders Summit in Japan and delivered a keynote speech at the Expo 2025 in Osaka Kansai.


Introduction to Lantern Festival Joy

The novel Lantern Festival Joy integrates traditional cultural elements such as the Twenty-Four Solar Terms and the culture of the Song Dynasty. It personifies the Lantern Festival as the immortal Yuanxi and tells the story of her journey to the ancient Hangzhou of the Song Dynasty (Lin'an) to explore and mature, ultimately sacrificing herself to protect the people. It vividly recreates the elegant scenes of daily life and the open and inclusive social ethos of the Song Dynasty. The Chinese novel was completed and launched on Migu Reading, accumulating over one billion views worldwide. It ranked first on both the new women’s fiction list and the bestseller list.

The English printed edition of Lantern Festival Joy is based on the original novel. The translation accurately reproduces the content of the Chinese original text. Wang Yurong, the original author, participated in the translation process and ensured the translation’s accuracy and literary quality. The English edition sells well in Asia and Europe and has been collected in the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature and National Library of Singapore. It has been selected for the 2026 International Cultural Communication Program of the Overseas Readers Club of Chinese Literature.

The eponymous micro-drama Lantern Festival Joy has the original author Wang Yurong as its producer. The drama is co-produced by China Mobile Migu Digital Media and June Net Vision. The story is set in Lin'an of the Song Dynasty, present-day Hangzhou. Beneath the city’s bustling exterior lie hidden dangers. Yuanxi and her friends join hands to protect the city, leaving behind a series of thrilling legends. The micro-drama has been translated into more than 20 languages and broadcast on more than 30 overseas platforms, with its overseas views exceeding 50 million.

Currently, the AI animation of Lantern Festival Joy is under production. Its teaser trailer was released at the launch ceremony of the 22nd China International Animation Festival (IABC) in 2026. It will be jointly launched overseas in partnership with the Intelligent International Communication Laboratory of the Development Research Center of the National Radio and Television Administration.
